Senior Research Manager – Delivery – Johannesburg – TNS

Job description
Leads Delivery Team researchers to service a portfolio of accounts/revenue resulting in high client satisfaction and contributes to establishing long term, profitable client relationships through effective project delivery.

Note: The role description for this position includes only differentiating skills and it is accepted that all the skills expected at more junior levels will also apply.
Financial Management and business acumen:
Accountable for achievement of team’s annual Revenue, GM and profit results.
Develops well constructed and justified business plans within the context of the strategic objectives
Demonstrates an understanding of the commercial environment by successful negotiation; aims for win-win scenarios
Identifies commercial strengths and weaknesses to have a clear understanding of leverage
Strategically leads relationships with suppliers
Champions new technology, processes and initiatives to reduce costs to TNS and clients

Client development and management
Manages delivery of client account/s greater than ZAR 10 million
People development and management
Facilitate and drive necessary internal training sessions
Responsible for development and retention of talent within team/s
An effective leader and manager of people and team capacity
Provide the team with strategic direction and insight
Ensure appropriate coaching and mentoring takes place within team
Understands team dynamics; builds constructive and effective relationships
Stay abreast of latest operations developments and best practice to ensure on-going improvements in the team
Support managers in pro-actively resolving problems and facing challenges on their studies
Research Skills

6.1 Proposal, design, costing and sampling
o Overall responsibility for providing best costs throughout the team and maximising profitability

6.2 Questionnaire
o Challenges questionnaire related issues with Research teams
o Ensures that team possesses appropriate questionnaire handling/understanding/challenging skills
o Provides questionnaire consultancy to team as appropriate – in terms of best practice recommendation in terms of length of questionnaire, learnings for other projects, ways of asking questions
o Acknowledged expert in questionnaire design
o Responsible for signing off questionnaires on large /complex projects

Company Description
TNS is a full-house research company, undertaking all phases of the research process from designing the study, executing the fieldwork and processing the data to interpreting and presenting the findings to client in actionable user friendly summaries and generally with conclusions and recommendations. We undertake both qualitative and quantitative research to provide solutions to any kind of marketing challenge.

Requirements
• Tertiary education, preferably a degree (B.Com/Business Administration/B Bus Sc/Project Management/Post Graduate qualification)
• Working knowledge of word and excel and an added advantage if incumbent has experience on other database packages like Microsoft projects
• Must have at least three to five years working experience at a senior management level, and relevant project management experience
• Must have a sound knowledge of the research process and marketing research and previous research experience a distinct advantage
