Impact Manager – Africa Check

Key responsibilities include:
Implement and further develop our impact strategy, including refining the approach to impact, the monitoring and evaluation framework, indicators, and monitoring and measuring tools and systems
Mine our impact data and broader research to identify lessons and insights, and effectively communicate those to help us continuously learn and improve our approach to fact-checking
Ensure, in collaboration with our head of partnerships & engagement, that our impact is communicated compellingly to a range of different audiences
Work collaboratively with editors to agree annual targets
Track and closely monitor our progress against targets on an ongoing basis and hold monthly meetings to discuss progress with the senior management team and editors
Produce insightful reports about the impact of our work for our Board of Trustees
Produce compelling and accurate donor reports that speak to the needs of each donor
Lead our research activities aimed at better understanding misinformation and fact-checking on the African continent
Act as academic supervisor for Honours students conducting research about misinformation and fact-checking
Commission research and evaluation work from external parties when required, and manage the relationship with such parties to ensure that the work meets the agreed objectives
Direct our corrections work which focuses on engaging public figures and institutions who make false or misleading claims to seek a correction and a change in practice
Manage the impact coordinator and freelance researchers as required.

Master’s degree in relevant field
Minimum 10 years’ relevant work experience in MEL
Experience in measuring, monitoring, evaluating and communicating impact, both quantitative and qualitative
Proven ability to leverage insights to create a culture of learning and inform decision-making
Resilient self-starter who takes ownership of projects while working collaboratively in a team environment
Highly developed analytical skills with proven ability to apply creative solutions to problems
Demonstrated ability to present complex data and information in an insightful, engaging and structured manner, both in written and verbal communication
Strong listening skills and ability to craft messages to meet the needs of diverse audiences
An awareness of the nature of mis- and disinformation, specifically in Africa
Proven ability to effectively prioritise when juggling multiple responsibilities while maintaining excellent attention to detail

Experience in working across diverse geographies and cultures (advantageous)
