Legal Researcher – Corruption Watch

The purpose
of this role is to provide general support to the Corruption Watch Legal and Investigations unit though the execution of various tasks, including but not limited to:
Legal research and writing, drafting of reports, drafting of legal submissions, investigative work, project planning and execution, advocacy, liaising and coordinating with external stakeholders, fundraising for projects, ensuring quality reporting and doing media interviews and other media related work including publishing of media statements and opinion pieces

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing project proposals including planning, execution, liaising with stakeholders and making recommendations
Engage in advocacy work to advance public support, policy and legislative changes, focused on developing strategies and interventions
Legal research and writing
Conducting investigations and drafting reports
General administrative support

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Legal degree
3 Years’ experience in a similar role would be advantageous
Fundraising experience
General understanding of the South African political climate
Strategic thinker
Legal research
Attention to detail
Advanced communication skills
Good Writing, organizational and computer skills
Project planning
Excellent presentation skills
Public speaking
