Corporate Partnerships Research Intern – Operation Smile South Africa

Key Relationships:
National and global donors and Operation Smile colleagues across the organisation

Learn about new business processes and methods for identifying and approaching potential corporate donors
Research new business sectors and companies with a view to securing income across a range of corporate partnership fundraising mechanics including strategic partnerships, charity of the year, cause-related marketing and employee engagement
Support the management of corporate prospects through a business development pipeline
Play an active role in written proposal development
Play an active role in the Development Coordinator’s preparations for client meetings
Provide support with corporate pitches or client presentations and contribute at client meetings whenever possible
Research suitable networking events for the Development Coordinator to attend
Whenever required, provide support to the Development Coordinator with their account management of current corporate partners, with the intention of maximizing both income and awareness of Operation Smile’s work around the world.

Graduate in relevant field
Knowledge/ Skills:
Excellent research skills and ability to summarise information
Good written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including relationship building, influencing, inspiring and negotiating with a wide range of people, using tact and diplomacy.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Able to work from remote location as well as our Cape Town office
Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point

Understanding of business plans and sales techniques
Canva software experience
Personal skills:
Interest in International Development and global health issues
Strong inter-personal skills and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment
